 LED displays have been used on bus route information for many years. This kind of equipment is generally called “LED Router”. The early LED itineraries had monochrome display and could only display text and numbers. With the maturity of full-color LED technology, Sander launched Taiwan’s first full-color LED itinerary in 2017 and installed it in the double-decker tourist attraction in Taipei City. On the bus, the colorful era of LED routers in Taiwan has been opened since then.

Sander’s full-color LED router is not only an improvement in color, but also a great improvement in function. In addition to the display of text and numbers, the display of pictures and animations is added to make the display effect more clear and vivid.

Although the application of full-color LED display products (such as subtitle machines or large screens) is very mature, there are still some challenges must be overcome when they are introduced into automotive applications.

First of all, the amount of data that a full-color image is dozens of times that a monochrome image, and the amount of data of an animation is even greater. The traditional RS-485 transmission method is no longer enough, and the faster Ethernet must be used to transmit data; in addition, the LED scanning frequency of the full-color router is much higher than the monochrome, so in the treatment of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) The difficulty has also increased a lot. After hard work, Sante’s full-color router has passed the vehicle safety inspection standard of the Ministry of Communications – the 56th-three electromagnetic compatibility inspection, and has obtained the certification of the Vehicle Safety Inspection Center (VSCC) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

In the design of the power supply, the conversion efficiency of commercially available power supplies commonly used in the industry is only about 75%. Sander has developed a power supply with an efficiency of over 92% and built it into the LED module. In addition to saving power, it also reduces heat generation. The heat dissipation is better and the wiring is simpler, which increases the stability of the system.

Public transportation vehicles pay special attention to the requirements of public safety, among which the requirements for fire protection are also one of the key points. Among the materials used in LED routers, plastic sunshade masks are the key materials that must be paid special attention to. The plastic materials used by Sander full-color routing machine have passed the European standard ECE-R118 combustion test by the Vehicle Research and Testing Center (ARTC), and can be used on vehicles.
